Review and witness a Form 1583
Check a customer's PS Form 1583 and IDs, witness the signature, verify the form, and record the CRD entry.
Each customer files PS Form 1583 online and chooses how their signature is witnessed: in person, on a video call with you, or by a notary. You get an email when a customer signs. Seeing forms and IDs needs the USPS compliance permission, which your organization's owner gives on the Team page.
Open the form
- Step 1Open Mailboxes and select Open on the location.
- Step 2Under Customers, select the customer whose PS Form 1583 shows To review.
- Step 3Read the applicant, business, names and remail address, and how the customer chose to be witnessed.
- Step 4Under Identification (block 10), select View image on each ID. Check that both IDs are current, that the photo matches, and that the home address on the form matches the second ID.
Witness the signature
- In person: the customer visits during your hours with both IDs.
- Video call: under Schedule the video call, set the Date and time and an https Video call link, such as a Zoom or Google Meet link, and select Send the invitation. The customer is emailed and sees the time on their form.
- Notary: the customer signs before a U.S. notary and gives you the notarized form.
Verify or ask for changes
- Step 1Select Verify the form.
- Step 2Under Witnessed by, record how the signature was witnessed.
- Step 3Check each ID's Issued by, Last 4 and Expires as you saw them.
- Step 4Select Verify. The customer's address becomes usable and their mail can be released.
If something is wrong, select Ask for changes, write what the customer should change, and select Send. The customer is emailed your note.
Enter it in the CRD
Enter the verified form and upload both ID images in the USPS CMRA Customer Registration Database, then select I entered it in the CRD. Holuway then deletes the ID images and keeps their details.
Note: The USPS compliance section on the location page lists verified forms not yet entered in the CRD, IDs expiring within 30 days and closed mailboxes to enter, and lets you record each quarter's certification.
