Shred or recycle mail

Have junk mail or anything you no longer need shredded or recycled unopened. This cannot be undone.

The mailroom shreds or recycles a piece unopened. Use Recycle for catalogues and junk mail, and Shred for anything else you do not need. You see only the options your mail center offers.

Ask for it

  1. Step 1In your mailbox, select the piece, or tick several.
  2. Step 2Select Shred or Recycle.
  3. Step 3Check the fee line.
  4. Step 4Select Shred it or Recycle it.

Important: Once the mailroom has shredded or recycled a piece, it cannot be undone. While the request still shows Waiting for the mailroom, you can open the piece and select Cancel this request.

When it is done, the piece shows Shredded or Recycled, and What happened to it records who did it. Some mail centers have two people handle each piece: one checks it, a different person destroys it.
