Accessibility

How Holuway works to be usable by everyone, the standard we follow, and how to tell us about a barrier.

Finding a home, applying, signing a lease, paying rent and asking for a repair should be possible for everyone. We design and test Holuway so that people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology can do all of it.

1.Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across Holuway, starting with the journeys that matter most: search, listing pages, applications, lease signing, payments, repair requests and messages, and the landlord tools that go with them.

2.What we do

  • Every page works at phone width and with text enlarged, and in light and dark themes, with color contrast checked against WCAG AA.
  • Forms have visible labels, say what is wrong and how to fix it, and keep what you typed.
  • Dialogs and menus can be used with a keyboard, keep focus where you are, and close with Escape.
  • Information is never given by color alone, and the map always has a list of the same homes.
  • Lease documents read the same on screen as in the PDF, and you can sign by typing your name instead of drawing.
  • We check new work with a keyboard and an automated contrast check before it ships, are adding regular screen reader testing of the primary journeys, and fix accessibility problems as bugs.

3.Known limitations

Some content comes from others and may not meet our standard: photos and descriptions written by landlords and hosts, documents they upload (such as a lease PDF), and maps and imagery from our providers. If anything stops you from finding, applying for or renting a home, tell us and we will help you complete what you were doing another way, such as by email or phone, while we fix it.

4.Tell us about a barrier

Email support@holuway.com with the subject "Accessibility", or use our contact form. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and assistive technology you use if you can. We answer within two business days and aim to fix barriers in the primary journeys within 30 days.

If you need a document such as a lease or a disclosure in another format, ask your landlord or email us, and we will provide it.
